Sand Flats Recreation Area

Elevation 4500 feet. 150 tentsites, which can hold up to 4 tents/2 vehicles each. This area is a veritable mecca for fat tire enthusiasts, so grab your camelback, strap on your helmet, and get on out onto that slickrock for the ride of your life. Established trails are as follows: The Slickrock Trail (Mile 0.7 from the entrance booth) - Open to bikes and motorcycles. Porcupine Rim Trail (7.1) - Open to bikes; trail begins at the east end of the Recreation Area. Fins & Fins Jeep Trail (2.0) - This trail is marked with white arrows and stegasauri; because of hazardous terrain and uncertain road conditions, it is recommended only for experienced drivers. Porcupine Jeep Trail (2.2) - This moderate course spans the northeast section of the Sand Flats Recreation Area. Hell`s Revenge Jeep Trail (0.1) - This trail begins by the west entrance of the Sand Flats Recreation Area. An unmarked and hazardous course, this trail is recommended only for skilled drivers with a trip leader who knows the route.
